How To: Make a Second Zone

Step One:

Copy all the files butthe following from your other server folder into the new folder for your second (and maybe fourth of more) zone: (don't copy these files!) obscene.txt, points.log, reserved.txt, score.dat, scoreman.exe, squad.dat, subbill.exe, subbill.ini, user.dat. Those files are only needed for subbill. There are other files needed for both, but copy all the other files, unless they are personal files (IE: anyother logs make, pictures, maps, etc). And if you want to use the same ads, copy those over too.


Step Two:

Ok, now what you need to do it seperate them. No, not split them, but make their ID's different. Go to your server folder (the new one) and open up the <a href="/server/download/server.ini" onmouseover="self.status='Server.ini';return true">server.ini</a> file. Go to the section [Misc] and change the Port= to a different number that any other ones. And change the DefaultLevelFile= to the new map name. Now, go to the section [Password] and change the passwords to what you want. You can leave them the same, but if your giving out those passwords, those people can use powers in this zone too if they are the same passwords, so change them. Then to second [Billing]. Change ServerName= to your new zone name. Change ServerId= to what you want your zone's ID to be, and make sure that this isn't used with anyother zone's ID for that same billing server. Then change ScoreId= to what you want the score's id to be. Use the same ONLY if you want two or more zones to use the same score. Now to [Advertise], and change to what you want to use for your ads. Now, section [Directory] and change Description= to a short summary of your zone.


Step Three:

Ok, you have the hardest part to make a second zone done. Now, you have to make a cfg for this zone and map. Read the How To section on how to make a cfg/map (not done yet, unless you see it on my How To page) for how to do that. Also, read the How To: Make a Zone for how to set up this if the How To: Make a CFG/MAP is not done yet. For more info, email me.


Step Four:

This is easy, just open up the subbill that has all the things in it, and open up all the zones's subgame.exe that you want opened. That hard enough? And, as a side note, if your using a 56k, 36k, or something slow, don't run more than two max, or you will have some problems. And, don't run more than 5 max on the same computer, even if you have a Pentium 2, os something. But, don't even go that far if you don't. Use only 1-3 normally, and spread the zones out on as many computers you have (if your a host) so there is less lag. And, use a good T1/T3 or cable modem if your gonna host.
