This section deals with problems related to the Server.ini file. In here you'll find information dealing with certain settings or problems that will help you out when editing the server.ini file.
| How to prevent Subgame from using 100% of the CPU? | 5/10/2001 |
| If you dont want Subgame to use 100% of the CPU open the Server.ini and edit the [CPU] Section
[CPU]
LoopDelay=0
ProcessMaxTime=4
SleepPerIteration=1
SlowIterationWarningLevel=100
SleepTime=15
after you have set it to this save the File and restart Subgame and it now should only use like 5% of the CPU, this is only usefull when you are running more then 1 Zone on 1 Computer.
Note: Subbill will still use 100% of the CPU and there arent any Settings to prevent it from doing that.

| I try to connect to my zone for the first, but it says my password incorrect, why? | 5/10/2001 |
| | This is largely due to a bug. The best way to fix this problem is to delete all three .dat files in your server folder, then startup both subgame and subbill. Connect to your zone as a random name, one WITHOUT mod/smod/sysop/vip, just a normal guy. If you get wrong password, create another random name. If not, quit and create another random name. After you created 2 random names, it should be fine. |
| When i try to Connect to my Zone Subgame says "Connection request from Billing Server Ignored" | 5/10/2001 |
| If you are Running the Billing Server on the same Computer from that you are trying to Connected you will get that Error.
To get it to work put "localhost" in the Billing Section and not 127.0.0.1
In the favorites.lst make sure that you use 127.0.0.1 there and not the same as In the Billing Section, they need to be different |
| Why Continuum doesn't find my zone in Add/Update Zones menu? | 5/10/2001 |
| | Your server is not added to all directory servers. To fix this change Directory:IP in server.ini to: sscentral.subspace.inet.fi,sscentral.ds98.com,sscentral.subspacehq.com,sscentral.subspace.net and recycle or restart the zone. |
| How to use Advertisments/set background images? | 5/7/1999 |
| You have the ability to place small bmps in your game which can be ads or background art. To place an ad simply made a .bmp (64*64 is best) in the SS pallette and call them ad0.bmp, ad1.bmp etc. The server will randomly pick one to display to the user.
First, in your server.ini file, section [Advertise], change it to the following so it will work.
[Advertise]
SendMode=3
DisplayMode=0
Duration=6000
SendMode:
0=don't send any advertisments. 1= send them when the player enters the zone only. 2= send them when player dies. 3=when he enters game AND when he dies.
DisplayMode:
0= at top of screen behind all other art, 1=at top of screen on top of all other art, 2=floating around like a backdrop.
Duration:
The length of display for the ad in ms. (0 = always on)
To make the files for the ads, open up the template.bmp and change the size of it to fit your ad. Then save it as one of the following. The numbers can be changed from 0 to 999.
b_ad0.bmp - Makes the ad shown to all players.
r_ad0.bmp - Makes the ad shown only to players with full version.
s_ad0.bmp - Makes the ad shown only to players with demo version.
Save those ads you made to your server folder, and load up the subgame.exe and subbill.exe and on the subgame.exe, it should show that the ads are loaded. If not, then re-do the steps above to make it work. |
| What do different arenamodes do? | 9/24/2001 |
| In your server.ini, the Custom:ArenaMode allows you to do special things with non-public arenas. Here is what each one does:
- 0 - Default, all arenas (public and private) use server.cfg.
- 1 - Each non-public subarena uses its own *.cfg and *.lvl for that arena.
- If a .lvl isn't found, will use the zone's public map.
- If a .cfg isn't found, will copy the server.cfg to this arena's .cfg and will set the owner name and userid to that person which created it.
- 2 - Same as 1, just will not set the ownername and userid to player if they are not atleast a mod, smod, or sysop user.
- So a standard user creating a new subarena will have the exact copy of server.cfg created for its *.cfg.
- 3 - Same as 1, just to set them as owner, they need to be atleast a smod or a sysop.
- 4 - Same as 1, just to set them as owner, need to be a sysop.
- 5+ - If subgame 1.34.11g or later:
- Same as 1, that it will load the *.cfg and *.lvl the same way, just it will NOT create a .cfg when a new arena is created.
- If no .cfg found, will use spawn.cfg instead of server.cfg. It will NOT copy it over to the *.cfg as others will.
- To make it load from *.cfg instead of spawn.cfg or *.lvl instead of spawm.lvl, upload a *.cfg or *.lvl to server. Zone will NOT create this file for you when you enter it.
- All subgames before 1.34.11g will create the *.cfg for you, but will not set the owner to the user that created it no matter what level of op they are logged in as.
