How To: Stop Twisters


Twister is a program made by Sage386. It is a hack program that is designed to change hexs in the exe file to allow you to cheat. You activate it with ` or ~ then the code line (IE: `c2 changes ship to jav, `mj12 moves ship to J12). It allows players to change ship types instandly, warp any where even if antied, unlimited burst, and much more. No, i'm not going to tell you where to download it.
Tip One:
Fixing settings
To edit you server.cfg so that twisters can not do everything easily, you need to do the following:
Go through your settings, and write down or remember all the following info for each ship type: what level of bombs and guns, if it can have x, anti, stealth, cloak, if you can turret it, if it gets bursts, and has sharpnel. If the ship doesn't allow x, anti, etc, change their energy cost to the max (32000). If they can't be turreted, change the max settings for thrust cost and speed. If they can't have burst, change settings for burst to 0 for it (sharpnel and speed of them). If they don't have bombs, change bomb/landmine cost, upgrade, thrust, and delay to the max settings. And change the sharpnel (max and upgrade) to 0, bomb speed to 0 (if the ship doesn't get hammers either), and turn the ship's EMP bomb on. If it doesn't get guns, do the same for everything that allows guns stuff to the max, execpt the multi-fire delay. Keep that below or at 300. If you don't allow super/shields, change their time limit to either 0 (kicks them if they pick it up) or 1 (gets super and shield for .01 seconds). If it doesn't get sharpnel, change upgrade and max to 0.
Also, if you have a turf flag game, or no flags at all, and soccer balls don't use flagger settings, set all flag settings for like bombs cost, shields, etc to the worst possible settings. It stops them from using flagger settings to help with the kills.

Tip Two:
Dealing with them in the zone
You need to find out what kind of cheater it is. If it is an old twister (no-anti-banning stuff), ban their asses off. If they come back, do the following for what you do to anti-bannable guys.
If they are anti-bannable, don't waste time with *kill. Sometimes it hurts more than what you think. (Their is a way to change to ID to someone elses in SS, and i know some cheaters who found mod's IDs out, and changed their to it, so when the mod bans them, they ban themself too, but the cheater just unbans himself.) Just put him in *spec, and *shutup. That will annoy him more than *kill will. But other than that, you can't do much. If they have an anti-specable cheat (havn't seen one yet, but may come out soon), just keep resetting their ship if they give themself prizes and *kill. That is about all you can do to a cheater...
Or you can change to a permission bases type zone. If you do, i would still advise you doing the settings fix, and also try this out if you want. It is called spec permission, i think. In the server.ini, under [Permission] section, instead of permission mode being 1 (only permitted people can play, or people with powers), it allows anyone into the zone, try number 2. But only permitted people can play as a ship in number 2. If you aren't permitted yet, you can only be a spec. This is so people can be permitted via a mod without havn't to email someone. But the problem with this is telling a cheater as a new name from a newbie. But you can still revoke permission, and *shutup them if they are annoying. This is good in the begining to get more players permitted.
