Infantry Zone Hosting
What I would want most of all for Infantry is to allow the users more access to different things. And the main thing i would like to see for players to have access is for harmless allow one of there hopefully many zones to be deticated to player zone hosting, currently like the SubSpace zone SSCX SCF West.
This page has most of all the info about how is a good way to run this, and the suggested things the Harmless Coding Crew would have to add to the code to fully allow this. Also, the link to the form below is to help let me know if you would like to see this, and new things to add to it.
I would hope that you, the players of Infantry, would have enough time to write me something about what you think about what i wish to do. Only thing that is required is a name.
To suggest something or to complain/praise it, click here to tell me.
The main things i would like to see to be done with this is the following:
- A zone hosted off wherever all the infantry zones are at.
- The zone would be deicated to hosting subzones inside itself. These subzones would be guided by the Guidelines section a little lower.
- The zone's main settings would be basic players, where you can't buy anything or change guys. You would have a guy that has a jetpack, bullets and bombs, and a high health and bombs/bullets do very little damage. This is so you won't die easily if your just looking around for a new subzone. More about this in the Main Zone section.
- Main Zone
- Guys:
- The most basic guy, where you can't change to another guy. Start with jetpack, high health, average energy, high recharge, low level bombs and guns.
- The bombs would do very little damage to the guy, as is not to kill quickly, but enough damage to allow a little type of duel if both people wanted it.
- Warping to SubZones:
- You can warp to subzones inside the zone by either a ?go subzonename, going to the subzone's warpgate inside the main zone's map, or by doing a ?gorandom which would bring you to a random subzone inside the zone.
- The ?gorandom would randomly select a subzone based on a wieghted randomness, where subzones with players would have a higher randomness, and ones where sysops would give a subzone a selected 'goodness' based on there personal opions of the subzone. More info about the sysop wieghted part in the Powers section.
- The warpgates would be placed near the middle of the map, or in a select location of the map based on the main 'theme' of the subzone. Like all WarZone type themes are in one warproom, while Turfs in another, Chaos is a third, etc.
- Warpgates will have below there gateway the zone's name. If you select the warpgate (not go into it, but like using the mouse and right clicking) and select the Info, it will give you a description of the subzone based on what the owner of the subzone says and what the sysops would say.
- The ?go zonename would bring you to the subzone. If that subzone does not exist, the game will tell you before you go there that that subzone does not exist, and will keep you in the main zone. Doing the ?go would require full energy or being in spec, like all other zones going to subarenas or other public arenas.
- ?arena will tell you all subzones that are in the zone, even if no one is in that subzone. It will also tell you how many people are in that subzone at that time. Also, subzones with a * at the begining of their names means that when you select that subzone, or do a ?go for it, it will require a password. You can do passwords by ?go zone:pw or ?go zone and it will then ask you to type it in. Password protected subzones are mostly for begining testings or makings of a subzone, or it is the basic of a subzone where the owner has yet to finish making the settings or map.
- SubZones
- All subzones will have an owner (that could be the sysop or a player). That owner will get certain powers in just his or her subzone (listed in Powers section) and will also be able to change the settings/map.
- The owner will be able to change at anytime while in his or her subzone the map, settings, news, description (excluding sysop description), and if zone is password protected and what is the password.
- The owner, while being the owner, will never be locked out of his or her subzone. They do not need to have the password to enter there subzones.
- The owner can ban anyone from just their subzone at anytime for any reason.
- The owner can view the subzone's sysop wieghted average for being randomly selected, and also the subzone's player info. The player info will show how many different player names have enter the subzone, what is the average time for how long they were in the zone, what time of the day is the peak hours, what time of week is peak hours, and the average number of people entering the subzone a day.
- The owner of the subzones takes all responsiblity for running the subzone correctly. And if they do not do it correctly, or are disrupting the feel of the whole zone by contantly banning people without much of a reason, the owner of that subzone may change.
- Ownership of subzones maybe changed only by a sysop changing it.
- If an owner wishes to change ownership of the zone to another person, both people (current owner and new one) need to message the owner by either email or while in the game.
- Both people need to be current at the time the ownership is to be changed. This is to make sure that this is a correct ownership change.
- All subzones will be displayed in the ?arena list at all times while the subzone is still with the zone.
- Subzones can only be shutdown by sysops.
- If an owner wishes to have the subzone shutdown, they will need to message a sysop. The owner needs to be in the zone with the sysop at the time of the shutdown.
- If a subzone gets very little activity for long periods of time, they maybe shutdowned. In most cases, the sysop will message the owner alteast a week before the shutdown. This is so the owner will be able to backup any files in the subzone.
- If a subzone is very disruptive to the whole zone the subzone maybe shutdown without any warning. The sysop will then get in contact with the owner to tell why the subzone was shutdown, and also to send them the subzone's settings/map/news/stats/etc.
- Subzones can only be created by sysops. More info in the Creating SubZone section.
- All password protected subzones will be unreachable by ?gorandom no matter what power that they have.
- Powers
- Sysops will get the powers in the zone to be able to do the following:
- They will be able to create new subzones by ?createarena name(:pw) where the :pw is optional.
- They will be able to give out wieghted average for the ?gorandom for each subzone, bases on their opinions of the subzone, or based on the subzone's stats.
- They will be able to view stats about subzones like the owner, plus the hidden type of information about how much of the memory this subzone takes, etc.
- They will be able to add to the main zone's map to get new warpgates to new subzones. They can also remove them to.
- They will be able to change settings in any subzone or the main zone.
- They will be able to bypass all password protected subzones and be able to get (or change) the password for subzones.
- They will be able to add the sysop description of a subzone that only sysops could remove.
- They will be able to edit the news for the whole zone, or just the subzone.
- They will also get all other powers that are normally given to sysops. NOTE: The sysops of the zone (if they arn't working for harmless games) may not be true 'sysops' like the people who make infantry. They may only get smod powers, plus what is above. This is probly going to be true to protect the game.
- Smods will get the powers in all zone and subzones to do the following:
- All normal Smod powers for the whole zone.
- Able to bypass subzone's passwords, and able to get them, but not change them.
- Will be able to view subzones stats only as much as the owner can.
- Be able to change or view the sysop wieghted average for ?gorandom.
- Able to change the sysop decription of the subzone.
- Able to change only subzone's decriptions or news, but not the main zone.
- They will not be able to change or view any subzones settings or maps.
- Zone Mods will get the powers in the zone and all subzones to do the following:
- All normal mod commands (*arena, *spec, sounds, etc).
- Be able to bypass all subzone passwords, but not able to get the password.
- SubZone Owners will get only powers in there subzone
- Will be able to view/change the settings, map, news, and decription, not counting sysop decription.
- Will be able to view subzone stats for how many players have entered their subzone, average time they stay there, and the average amount of people entering their subzone per day.
- Able to ban people from just their subzone for as long as they wish.
- Will be able to bypass subzone's password for only their subzone, and able to view/change it.
- View the sysop wieghted averaged.
- Able to add/delete upto 5 SubZone Mods for their subzone.
- Will also get all basic mod commands, and also a few smods commands.
- SubZone Mods will get the following in only their subzone
- Most basic mod commands (*spec, *kill, *arena, etc). A few mod commands will not be given though. They will also be able to do a few smod commands.
- They will be able to bypass the password for only their subzone, and able to view the subzone's password.
- Will be able to view subzone stats, as much as owner can.
- All of the above powers can be changed at anytime by someone ranking higher than themselves. They can also be removed at anytime for any reason.
- Creating SubZone
- To be able to create a subzone, you must talk with a sysop. Sysops will choose who gets subzones based on:
- Their personally opinion of the player.
- How well the description of what the player will do with subzone.
- How many other subzones there are currently in the zone.
- How many other subzones that that player has in the zone.
- How many other subzones are alike to that player's description.
- How well the current settings and/or map that that player has made so far.
- Sysop may create temporarly password protected subzones to test how the player's currect settings and/or map that they made. By making this temp subzone, it will only be viewed in ?arena and will not be put in the main zone's map with other gateways to subzones.
- The player may use the temp subzone for only showing to the sysop.
- The player may invite others to come and help test the temp subzone to the sysop.
- Temp subzones will not be left up for a long amount of time.
- Anyone maybe able to apply for a subzone, but the main zone may have a max limit set into place at some time or another. (Due to lag, CPU usage, etc)
- All owners that wish to get a subzone will agree that the zone sysops, Harmless Games, and anyone else who has access to editing/changing the settings/map/etc maybe able to do so at anytime.
Subzones maybe shutdown at anytime for any reason. All subzones are not copyright protectable in anyway. SubZones, if they become good enough, maybe made into a full zone of it's own. The owner may or may not get powers to this full zone, but will most likely get ownership and mod there also.
SubZone hosting is to be able to allow players the chance to create their own settings. This helps keep the game fresh and interesting. SubZones may also have events ran in the subzone if they wish to do so. Anyone who tries to use this free subzone hosting to disrupte the zone or game or other player's choice to be able to play the game will not be able to create a subzone inside the zone, and maybe banned from the zone.
If you have been banned from a subzone, talk to the owner, not the zone sysop. Only talk to them if you think that you were banned because the owner either hates you or the owner is away for a while.
I, Mine GO BOOM, am doing this for the good of Infantry, and not for personal gain. If Harmless Games wishes to do what I said, I would be happy to help. And if they choose not to allow me to help, I will not hold it against them. Theses are only ideas and maybe changed at anytime.
